Oil and collage on cardboard, 49×40 cm

signed at lower right P. Conti

It is an exemplary manifesto of Conti’s poetics, this Simultaneity of Environments , which reads in an erotic key, anticipating the later Eros, the assumption of futurist temporality, placing the phenomenon of knowledge in an irrational and instantaneous dimension and pushing far beyond, therefore, the hypothetical link with dream life indicated by futurism. Instead of receiving the seed of the universe in her hands, like the mother in Boccioni’s Materia, here the prostitute, in an almost esoteric and mediumistic key, seems to welcome all the urges coming from the street below, which rise up toward her as toward a dark deity.
