On the occasion of the special opening for European Heritage Days, the Marucelliana Library is participating in the Florentine Athenaeum’s centennial celebrations and the with an afternoon dedicated to Prof. Giorgio Luti, whose archival collection the institute preserves.
The paths of libraries often cross with those of authors, artists and intellectuals who from frequent visitors and scholars can become donors capable of further enriching bibliographic collections.
This is the case of Giorgio Luti who was a critic, historian and lecturer but is best known as an innovator of the study and teaching of Italianism; he was the first professor at the University of Florence to teach courses in contemporary studies and one of the first in Italy.
