signed and dated lower right Conti 1917
Definitely rare in Conti’s dreamy, nocturnal flair, this sunlit view delivers a perspective of Antignano from above in the almost cubist style of Braque’s and Picasso’s early landscapes, which the perfect cubing of the houses and the calibrated spacing of the gaps between them leads one to evoke. The winging haze dissolving in the air leads the eye back from a purely mental condition to the dimension of the state of mind, and to every visual and physical limit it opposes an exorbitant, somehow elusive measure.
