This work, with seemingly casual strokes yet extremely concise, is a small gem. Conti's skill lies in masterfully translating the drawing directly onto the canvas, just as if he were tracing it on paper, in the many small notebooks where his expert hand exercises his skill. The sketch and the finished work coincide perfectly. The oil, applied with scratching, allows the mark to adhere or slide on the support and achieves an extremely variable tension, which allows Conti to extend his expressive range to even the slightest vibrations and variations.
