The Primo Conti Foundation is housed in the 15th-century Villa "Le Coste," which was the Maestro's home for many years. Purchased in 1945, the villa became the Foundation's headquarters when it was established, thanks to a donation from the Conti family, as a Documentation and Research Center on the Historical Avant-garde in 1980. The Center represented the realization of Primo Conti's long-held dream "to preserve the memory and testimony of the most important innovative movements of the twentieth century."
The Foundation is divided into two sections:
il Museum of the works of Primo Conti and Archive
The Museum and Archive together represent a unique center in Italy for retracing and reconstructing with scientific rigor the history of the historical avant-garde, which so profoundly shaped the literary and artistic movements of much of our century. The Foundation's primary objective is the study, promotion, and dissemination of the artistic and literary heritage associated with the figure of Maestro Primo Conti, alongside the enhancement of the pictorial, literary, and musical heritage associated with the complex period of the historical avant-garde. To this end, the Foundation is involved annually in study and research projects funded by the MiC, the CNR, the Tuscany Region, the Metropolitan City and Municipality of Florence, the Municipality of Fiesole, and the Fondazione CR Firenze.
Founding bodies: Municipality of Florence, Municipality of Fiesole, Metropolitan City of Florence.
Since 2022, on the occasion of its transformation into ETS, the following have joined the Foundation as Members: Fondazione Spadolini Nuova Antologia, Fondazione Biblioteche CR Firenze, and Associazione Fiesole Futura.
