Notes to the Primo Conti Foundation: classical music for everyone

On July 8, 1956, Giovanni Papini died in Florence, in his villa on Via Guerrazzi. The great writer, one of the most important, controversial, and versatile Italian intellectuals of the twentieth century, had been afflicted for several years by a terrible illness that led to a slow and progressive paralysis. However, thanks to his family, and especially his niece Anna Paszkowski, he continued to read and work until his last day, as evidenced by his archive, which since 1980 has been preserved, thanks to the Tuscany Region, in Fiesole, at the Primo Conti ETS Foundation.
This is a monumental collection, which contains over 30.000 letters (1899-1956), 80 large folders containing the autographs of all his articles and works, the complete press review since 1897, over 600 photographs, diaries and notepads (1917-1956)…
On the seventieth anniversary of Papini's passing, the Conti Foundation, under the patronage of the Municipality of Fiesole, will pay tribute to him, remembering the driving force of Florentine culture, the founder of historic magazines such as "Leonardo" and "Lacerba," and a unique witness to the first half of the 20th century, spanning from Futurism to Catholicism. The concert will be performed by DAMIANO ISOLA, a talented young violinist who trained at the Fiesole School of Music, the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, and the HKB in Bern.
Other initiatives, always in the name of Papini, will follow throughout the year with the collaboration of the Tuscany Region.
