The Gioacchino Contri Fund (Campagnano di Roma, 1900-Florence, 1982), donated to the Primo Conti Foundation in 1982 by his niece Fiorenza Contri, includes, together with other series, a rich collection of periodicals such as Bianco e Nero , Il Selvaggio , Prospettive , Pègaso , Il Frontespizio , Nuova Antologia , Civiltà Moderna , L'Universo , L'Orto and many other publications of notable cultural importance, sometimes rare.
Thanks to the contribution of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, the Fiesole-based institution was able to complete the cataloging project for the series of periodicals and digitize all the covers.

Archival historyThe Gioacchino Contri Collection was donated to the Primo Conti Foundation in 1982. Its archival material is divided into the following sections: Correspondence, Manuscripts, Photo Library, Miscellaneous, Press Reviews, Periodicals, and Library. The material, collected and preserved by Contri, spans his entire life until 1982, the year of his death.

ContentGioacchino Contri (Campagnano di Roma, 1900 - Florence, 1982), a journalist, studied in Pisa and began his career in the post-war period, contributing to magazines related to Fascism, a movement he had been a member of since its inception. Between 1925 and 1926, he was editor of "Battaglie Fasciste," the organ of the Florentine Fascist Party; in 1934, he became the editor of the magazine "Il Bargello." As editor, he introduced young men destined to shape the history of contemporary Italian literature, such as Bilenchi, Pratolini, and Vittorini. He was a friend of Alessandro Pavolini and, through him, became acquainted with men such as Bottai, Pellizzi, and Casini.
The Correspondence collects letters addressed to Contri by various senders, including those with Bargellini, Bilenchi, Bottai, Rosai, and Soffici, scrupulously collected by the artist throughout his life.
The Library section houses Contri's private collection, which comprises over 1500 volumes spanning a wide variety of disciplines: Greek and Latin literature, classical and contemporary Italian literature, foreign literature, history from the Middle Ages to the Second World War, art history, philosophy, education, and the history of religions. The Periodicals series includes, among other publications, "Pegaso," "Totalità," and "L'Orto," as well as a collection of almanacs such as the Almanacco dei Visacci and the Almanacco Beltempo.
The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by sender and, within it, chronologically; Contri's reply drafts are placed in files bearing his name, in alphabetical order by recipient. The other series are arranged chronologically only.
